How Long Ago Were You Convicted of a Sex Offense?
There are many factors that determine your eligibility for requesting to file a petition for removal from the sex offender registry in Colorado, but the most important ones are the amount of time it has been since you were convicted and your type of offense. If you were convicted of a Class 1, 2, or 3 felony, you may be eligible 20 years after your sentence was discharged.
If you were convicted of a misdemeanor offense other than Class 1, you could be eligible in as little as five years. If you were convicted of an unlawful sexual contact, Class 1 misdemeanor, or any Class 4, 5, or 6 felony, you could be eligible within 10 years. If you were a juvenile when convicted, you could be eligible once you have turned 18 and successfully completed your probation sentence.
